Joining a multi-partner R&D project like PlastiCircle means PICVISA's sorting expertise gets tested against problems defined by the rest of the plastics value chain, not just by its own customers.
PICVISA has joined PlastiCircle, an R&D project led by ITENE (the Technological Institute for Research in Packaging, Transport and Logistics) together with ECOEMBES, focused on improving the value chain for plastic packaging recycling.
PlastiCircle brings together partners from across the plastics packaging chain – from collection systems through to sorting and processing – with the aim of identifying and addressing the points where value is currently lost. For sorting technology, this kind of collaborative project provides a chance to work on challenges defined collectively by the project's partners, rather than only by individual customer requirements, which can surface problems and opportunities that wouldn't necessarily come up in day-to-day commercial work.
Participating in projects like PlastiCircle also connects PICVISA's sorting technology development with the research being carried out by technological institutes like ITENE, helping ensure that advances in sorting keep pace with developments happening elsewhere in the plastics packaging recycling chain.
