Ca Na Putxa Environmental Center has established itself as a cornerstone of sustainable waste management in Ibiza, expertly handling 90,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste annually — of which 8,000 tonnes consist of lightweight packaging materials requiring efficient and precise sorting.
With growing volumes of mixed plastic and composite packaging arriving from the yellow container, accurately recovering PET, HDPE, and BRIK fractions at industrial scale has become essential. Thanks to ECOPACK’s advanced multispectral optical sorting technology, Ca Na Putxa now efficiently classifies and separates lightweight packaging by material composition, maximising recovery rates and optimising materials for the next steps in the recycling chain.
Through innovation and a fully automated approach, PICVISA installed seven high-performance ECOPACK optical sorters throughout the facility, delivering seamless, continuous recovery of valuable plastic and composite fractions. This is a step forward in the journey towards a more sustainable packaging recycling industry.
