PICVISA's core product line – ECOGLASS, ECOPACK, ECOSORT TEXTIL and the rest – covers the most common sorting challenges across glass, plastics, textiles and other waste streams. But some customers have requirements that don't map neatly onto a standard product, whether because of an unusual material combination, a specific facility constraint, or an application outside the usual scope of recycling sorting altogether. Powered by PICVISA is the service built around exactly these cases.

What is Powered by PICVISA?

Powered by PICVISA applies the company's core capabilities – sensor-based identification, artificial intelligence, and sorting mechanisms – to develop customised solutions for specific customer needs, rather than adapting an existing product to fit. This means starting from the customer's actual problem rather than from a product specification, and building a solution around that problem.

Our purpose

The purpose behind Powered by PICVISA is to extend the benefits of sensor-based sorting and AI to applications that wouldn't otherwise have access to this kind of technology – whether that's a niche material stream, a process outside traditional recycling, or a customer with requirements that existing equipment manufacturers haven't addressed. It reflects a view that the underlying technology has applications well beyond PICVISA's standard product range.

The Reverse Vending Machine

One example of this kind of customised application is the reverse vending machine – a system that identifies and accepts containers (such as bottles and cans) returned by consumers, often as part of deposit return schemes. This application uses the same underlying identification technology as PICVISA's industrial sorting systems, but packaged into a very different form factor and use case – illustrating how Powered by PICVISA takes core capabilities and applies them to problems quite different from a conventional sorting line.
